I love learning about temples and scriptures.
About This Page
I’m Varden Hadfield and I love the temple.
The spirit of reverence, peace, order, and love I find there have been an inspiration and a source of comfort throughout my life.
As I’ve attended the temple and studied the scriptures over more than 25 years, I have regularly noticed and marked scriptures that help me better understand temple symbols and ordinances.
This collection of scriptures has helped me ponder, understand, and discuss ordinances and covenants. I hope you’ll enjoy it, use it to help others prepare for the temple, and to invite others to come for the first time or to come back and visit regularly.

Mountains: the First Temples
I love the symbolism of approaching the lord in the tops of the mountains, as Adam, Moses, Nephi, and many others did. Many of my closest experiences with the Lord have come in mountains and among His creations.
My ancestors helped build the trail to the top of Mount Timpanogos, my grandparents met on an annual Timpanogos hike, and I’ve hiked to the summit many times.
Manti Temple - A favorite
This temple about 2 hours south of Salt Lake City was completed and dedicated in 1888 by Wilford Woodruff, four years before the Salt Lake City Temple was completed.
To me, it is a marvel of excellent pioneer craftsmanship and a monument to their faith.
